****************************************

April was not only Tax month, but it saw the production of some new tax deductions. Congratulations to the Bodley’s. David’s daughter gave birth to her second daughter on the 9th and the baby’s name is Brielle.

Our Club membership is also expanding; we now have 56, counting spouses, the Club numbers approximately 100. We welcome new members all the time, so encourage colleagues and friends to join and participate in our numerous activities. Guests are always welcome to come have fun with us.

Activities have been going on around the State (which have been organized by our and other clubs):

The Marathon Seafood Festival (March 22 and 23) saw many TAC members, landing at different times, and crossing each other’s paths on the ground, eating the food, or looking at vendors, boats, cars, and planes.

Sun -‘n – Fun (April 8-14) was also a busy week. Many of our members attended at various times and days. Some even drove to Lakeland!!!!! Of our Warbird pilots, only President Fred Schlafly actually flew in the show; flying his YAK-52 (not Air Force One!!).

TAC organized activities:

Sunday April 22, a fly-out to Sarasota for lunch at the Banyan Café on the Ringling estate. After lunch TAC members toured the John and Mabel Ringling Museum of Art and Circus Museum. Go to our Web Site http://sfla.net/tac to view photos from the flyout.

On Saturday, May 19th there is  a fly-out to Venice for lunch at the 44th Aero Squadron which is located at the VNC field. The restaurant has a 1940’s WWII theme with memorabilia decorating the restaurant.  RSVP to either Bobbi or Sue. sue@sfla.net or tigertale99@aol.com

June 1-3, 2001  is the fly-out to Rock Sound (MYER),  Eleuthra, the Bahamas. The 7200 by 150 foot asphalt runway is said to be in “very good condition”. Arrangements have been made, in conjunction with the Bahamas Aviation Department, at the Venta Club Resorts. Room rate of $75.00 per person/night based on two in the room. This includes all meals, drinks, use of all non-motorized sports equipment, and an evening show. It is VERY important to make your reservation ASAP. Commercial flights to Rock Sound are available.  Contact either Sue or Bobbi for further details. sue@sfla.net or tigertale99@aol.com

On June 23rd a fly-out is planned to Fort Pierce with a tour of the Micco Aircraft Company. More details will be forthcoming but save this day on your calendar.

The following events are of interest to our membership, though TAC is not organizing them (at least not this year!!!).

May 5-6, 2001 is  The Sea and Air Show in Ft. Lauderdale.  Those who have been before say that this really is a “Show of Shows”. But remember to bring your suntan lotion and if you don’t like crowds, then this is not the event for you. For more info: http://www.airseashow.com/noflash/

May 12-13, 2001 is the weekend of the Sunrise Balloon Race and Aviation Days at TMB. Food and displays are planned for these days. Paul Stutsman will be manning a table for AOPA and TAC will have membership information available, at this location. Please contact Paul at 305-386-7500 or pstuts@mindspring.com to volunteer some time at this table.

May 26-27, 2001 Week’s Museum is sponsoring a Memorial Day re-enactment. Many of the TAC Warbird  pilots will be flying. Veteran’s recognition, formation flying, etc. will be going on, so come out and join the ”troops” for this event. For more information: http://www.weeksairmuseum.com/memorialtribute.htm

June 12-18, 2001 is the Cayman Caravan. For information you can go to the website http://cayman-caravan.com.  Sue Bodley will be compiling a roster of those planning to go, so contact her and let her know your plans. sue@sfla.net

November 17-18, 2001  the Homestead Pylon races will take place.

In an attempt to improve communication on the fly-outs, and to keep members aware of changes in plans due to the weather, or whatever, TAC is compiling a list of wireless telephone numbers. Please forward wireless number to Paul Stutsman  pstuts@mindspring.com  who will enter them on the TAC roster.

To keep you in touch of our monthly meetings, Sheila Bennett was unanimously voted  Secretary of TAC after she volunteered for the position. Thanks Sheila for stepping up to the challenge.

The position of Party Coordinator is still available. If you wish to volunteer , contact President Fred.

New designs for shirts and badges are being discussed. If you are working on creating a design for the TAC logo, please inform President Fred of your work, ASAP.

The next TAC monthly Board meeting will be at 1830 on Monday, May 14th at Reliance Aviation. Everyone is invited to the meetings, but we ask you to let President Fred know of your intended attendance since pizza is ordered.

For more information about these and other activities visit our Web Site at http://sfla.net/tac

Until next time, fly safely.
