Well, the birds (turkey birds that is) all seem to have flown by!!!! Hope everyone had a happy, healthy, and filling Thanksgiving.

A quick summary of the Board of Directors meeting held November 13, 200 shows our membership roster to consist of 48 members. Financially, according to Walt Orth, Treasurer, the club account is strong. David Bodley presented a preliminary draft of By-Laws for the new TAC. They will be discussed at the next Board meeting. Contact David

Bodley (305-385-1985) for further information.

Our Cruise Directors continue their creative ways and lots of Club activities will be occurring so get out your calendars to mark the dates. But first, a review of EVENTS PAST:

The October 14th fly-out to Vero Beach with lunch at CJ Cannon’s was a success. A great weather day brought out seven aircraft with 20 members and guests.

The October 28-29th Aerofest at Tamiami Airfield this year, unfortunately was not as successful as years past. The event was not well publicized and not well attended. Our Club provided the manpower for Weeks Museum’s "food tent" but that didn’t really help raise profits. And the Club lost money on the sale of the ice cream bars. I guess the general public just didn’t appreciate the connection between the Dove (flying bird) bars and our flying club! But much THANKS to everyone who came out on Saturday and/or Sunday to assist in this annual event. There was one true high point at Aerofest - Walt Orth took Fran Sargent for flight in 'Ole Timer, his T-6. It was Fran's first time back in a T-6 since her WASP days in WWII, and you never saw such a wide grin as she had when they landed. This was a true "special moment".

The November 12th fly-out to visit the new GA terminal at Sebring and have brunch at the Runway Cafe was attended by five aircraft carrying 11 members and guests. This is an event worthy of repeating, according to those who were there.

Now lets look out the windscreen to see EVENTS FUTURE:

The Tamiami AeroClub Holiday party will be held Saturday night, December 9, 2000 beginning at 1830. It will be held at Ingrid’s clubhouse (address and traffic directions are enclosed). We will be charging $15.00 /person for a catered meal and the Club will provide an Open Bar. Each person is requested to bring a $10.00 gift to participate in the "Gift Exchange " where club members choose a gift (according to pre-selected numbers) and then proceed to either keep it or exchange it with other members who have already chosen a present. The laughter really heightens during this "Gift Exchange" so don’t miss out on this Holiday fun. Please RSVP to either Cruise Director Bobbi Lichtiger (305-444-3458) or Sue Bodley (305-385-1958). Hope some of our out-of-town members can join us for this fun-filled evening.

A fly-out to Page Field at Ft. Myers will be held Sunday, January 14, 2001. Lunch and a boat tour of Manatee Park are planned. Cost, including local transportation, will be approximately $30.00 per person. If you intend to attend, please telephone either Bobbi or Sue.

The TAC Annual Dinner Party and Meeting will be held Friday night, January 19, 2001 in the hangar at Weeks Museum. In appreciation of our Club’s help with the October Aerofest, the Museum is permitting us the use of the facility for that evening. Cocktails will begin at 1830 and dinner will be at 1930. There will be a $25.00/person charge and the Club will provide an Open Bar. If the wx cooperates, this is a magnificent setting for a dinner party that no one should miss!

At this Annual Meeting, the following Slate of Officers, prepared by the Nominating Committee and approved by the Board at their November 13th meeting will be presented for vote - nominations may also be made from the floor:

President ............................Fred Schlafly

Vice-President....................Yale Mosk

Treasurer.............................Walt Orth

Secretary..............................Ingrid S. Johnson

Cruise Directors...................Sue Bodley and Bobbi Lichtiger

Director- Past President.......Paul Stutsman

Directors-at-Large................Al DeMaria and Don Smith.

A count is needed for food and table planning; so please RSVP to the Cruise Directors whether you will in attendance. Guests are welcome.

On February 10th it is a flight back to Page Field for a Murder Mystery trip aboard a train (the Orient Express?) out of Ft. Myers. Details, including itinerary and costs will be forthcoming. This will be an overnighter for those not night current.

This writer wants to thank members Judy and Charlie Bukowski for their hospitality when Don and I drove through Polk City a few weeks back. It was nice to see their ‘hood, and they are only a stone’s throw from Fantasy of Flight!

Fly Safely.
