The election was held at the Annual Dinner and Business Meeting on
January 25th, 2002 at the
University of Miami Faculty Club. Forty-five people were in attendance and
they all appeared to enjoy the food, libations, and camaraderie. The piano
player, during the cocktail hour, added a
“touch of class” to the evening.
Speaking of class, a very
interesting and entertaining presentation
was made by Mr. Larry Wilson,
Support Manager of the MIA Control Tower.
Some of the topics he spoke about were the history of MIA, current
safety issues affecting the airport, capital improvements going on at MIA,
general aviation, and a display of
aviation cartoons and jokes. He emphasized that the primary goal of the airport
is to put airplanes in the air and that communication was the key to accomplish
this. And “communicate” he did, extremely well. And the tradition of door prizes
continued. Congratulations go to the following persons and a thank you is
extended to those people making the donations:

Our Cruise Directors, Bobbi Lichtiger and Sue Bodley continue to be busy planning wonderful activities
for all members and friends of members
to participate in. So get your calendars out and jot these dates down so you
don’t plan anything else or forget.
Other aviation activities of interest to our members are also
listed.
This year started out with the fly-out to Key West, January 12-13th. A few members joined the list of conchers!!
A fantastic, fun time was had by those who went. Key West always seems to be a
destination that really is liked. No
wonder so many foreigners travel there and we have it in our backyard!
Fly- out Sunday, February 10, 2002 toVenice (VNC) for lunch at Sharky’s
on the pier was cancelled due to weather. Breakfast at KC Kagney’s was the
alternate destination. The fly-out has been reschelduled to Sunday, February
24, 2002 ETA is 1100 hours at Huffman
Aviation. Please RSVP to Sue Bodley at Sue@Bodley.net or 305-385-1958.
Members will be busy February 14th-17th,

A terrific trip is planned to the Babcock Wilderness Adventure on
March 16th. Reservations are a must for this day. A barbeque lunch is
planned plus other activities to choose from, including a swamp buggy ride and
bike ride. It will be $26.00 per person and more information will be
forthcoming. So be on the lookout for this fly-out. It is not an overnight
adventure.
April 7th through the 13th will be Sun ‘N Fun.
On April 20th (Saturday) a fly-out to Everglades City for lunch is
scheduled.
The Ft. Lauderdale Beach Air and Sea Show will take place May 4th-5th.
The month of May concludes with the fly-out to Walkers Cay,

love the islands.

We encourage everyone to come out and join each other in taking
part in these activities. If for some reason, you are without your bird, let
our Cruise Directors know and they may be able to assist you in flying with
somebody else.
Please remember that all members are invited to the monthly board of directors
meetings. The next meeting will be held Monday, March 11, 2002 at 1830 hours at
Reliance Aviation.
If you would like to have any
