Happy
New Year to all Tamiami Aeroclub members and friends. Wishing everyone good
health and beautiful, clear weather conditions so that we can continue to get
together and have another fabulous year of flying activities… starting with
River Ranch...but first.
Closing out 2003 were a couple of terrific events...the November weekend excursion to St. Augustine to see the Festival of Lights was well worth the miles. A couple of members even drove to this event. The delightful town was “decked out” as a wonderland leading up to and bringing on the holiday spirit. The night time Ghost Tour was fun and at times got the hearts beating a little faster!!!!!!!! Our Cruise Directors outdid themselves with the planning and coordination of this trip. Thanks, Bobbi and Sue.....
The December Holiday Party held at Wings Over Miami had a huge turnout, 56 TAC members. The weather was delightful and the atmosphere was festive. The exchange of gifts with Dave Wampole acting as emcee was indeed interesting and brought on laughs and oohs and aahs as usual...........A television and mag flashlights kept making the rounds, being taken and re-taken until the end........A great big thanks to all the people who helped in making this party a success..
And
now on to 2004, beginning with River Ranch where everyone had a lot of fun
despite the COLD weather and low ceiling which grounded those folks
traveling on Saturday and so…. they
headed to River Ranch by car. Everyone arrived in time to attend the famous “TAC Happy Hour”…. after all the eating and drinking some members chose not to have dinner, some went to the Saloon where there was a nice band, and others went to the Rodeo...and the word is “ it took a lot to get the last bull out of the ring”.... nice weather allowed 2 planes carrying eight more members to fly-in for the Sunday Brunch so a whole section of the cafe was busy with TAC folk. Connie Wilds did the tour of the RR complex so if you are interested in the details speak with her....very interesting.....

On February 6th, Friday night , the Annual Dinner Meeting will be held at the Coconut Grove Sailing Club. It will be a buffet dinner with a cash bar, $25.00 per person. On February 22, 2004 we will be traveling to Everglades City for lunch...details TBA....
But please note that it is important for everyone to support these activities and airfields because many are in trouble and face possible disappearance due to developers ...
March 20 weekend stay at the Grayl’s Hotel in St. Petersburg including visits to different museums is being planned. This hotel is within walking distance of the pier, on Beach Drive overlooking the marina with rooms between $99.00 and $125.00. Our Cruise Directors are busy getting this one organized, so keep looking for the details..........
June 4-6 TAC Fly-In to Small Hope Bay Lodge, Andros Island, Bahamas is also in the planning stages. REMEMBER .....PLEASE have a SAFETY check done on rafts and vests if you are planning to participate in this trip.......
Danger Will Robinson: Do you not check the NOTAMS before each flight? The following transmission was heard on the evening of 8 Jan.: This is the Air Force on VHS Guard Aircraft on the Pahokee 159/14 Tracking North. You are in a restricted area and may be shot down.
