The
tradition of writing continues --and as most writers do at this time of the
year ---it is time to reflect on this
past year’s activities before looking to the future..(In 25 words or less, plus
or minus.... I write of the activities since I became Newsletter Editor ...). NOTE: Visit our web page to see great
pictures of these activities.
June.....Lunch
at the River Walk Restaurant in Naples Tin City. July....Lunch at The Island Tiki Bar & Restaurant after flying
into The Florida Keys Marathon Airport. August....The Club’s annual Summer BBQ Picnic held this year at JV
Air Maintenance hangar. September....Lunch
at Mangos Restaurant in Key West, with
a night’s stay for some at The Duval Inn. October…Two events: Lunch
at CJ Cannons at Vero Beach; and The Tamiami Aerofest. November....Lunch at the restaurant in the new
GA terminal at Sebring. December....A
fabulous weekend at the Bahamas Atlantis Hotel, and......................
Our
activities ended with a smashing Holiday party on Dec. 9th with great talk, delicious Italian food, and
another fun-filled exchanging of presents. This year a Craftsman tool bag and
an aviator teddy bear were the desired items. Fran Sargent had the honor of
picking first and last and she chose a snow globe of Mickey Mouse in his
airplane. There was a large turnout (47 adults, 3 children) and it was a
wonderful scene to see many new members and guests attending. We hope those of
you were unable to attend due to illness are on the road to recovery....
As
an extension to the Holiday party, President Paul Stutsman and Ingrid Johnson
represented TAC on Dec. 16th in the second annual Santa’s Toy Drop
2000 put on by Broward County’s GA industry to benefit foster children. Paul’s was the third plane out of 25 to taxi
around and unload presents (with $90 donated at the holiday party, he was able to
buy the gifts requested). According to Ingrid and Paul “it was a very rewarding
thing to do, especially for the children, but also for the Club”.
Now
for the activities planned for the next Millennium.... (Did you know that it
was almost 33 years ago that Arthur C. Clarke wrote 2001: A Space Odyssey with
Stanley Kubrick :1968 - and they shared an Oscar nomination also!). On
Saturday, January 13, 2001 there
will be a fly-out to SEF to visit Sebring’s new GA terminal and have brunch at
the Runway Cafe. ETA is 1100. Those who
went in November, 2000 highly recommended this be repeated.

On
Sunday, February 25, 2001 our Club
will host a pancake breakfast fly-in from 0900 to 1300, in conjunction with Reliance Aviation. The Colling's
Foundation B-17 & B-24 will be at Weeks and a package of the breakfast,
Weeks Museum tour, and FSS tours will be offered. Breakfast will be sold
separately as well. The Club will be cooking the pancakes and driving vans
between the Museum and Reliance. Club members are needed to do either so please
telephone Paul Stutsman (305-386-7500) to volunteer to cook/serve and Al
DeMaria (305-251-3243) to volunteer to drive. So come on out and help make this
another successful Club activity; also promote this fly-in with your friends
and other flying clubs around the State - we want a LARGE turnout.
Until
next time, fly safely.
