It's a bird, it's a plane, no.. it's a pancake. And they were flying Sunday morning, February 25th at the TAC/Reliance Aviation Breakfast . They were being flipped by those amateur-professionals: Dave Bodley, Monte Lichtiger, and Doug Barnes. And Mary Gilibert got that griddle just right for the Canadian bacon and sausage. Was that food ever good.watch out Pancake House, Denny's, and International House of Pancakes...cause these folks really know how to cook.

Representatives from Cessna and Mooney were on hand to answer questions and show-off their new model planes. A quartet of musicians serenaded the crowd making this affair even more classy. There were a lot of volunteers coordinated by Paul Stutsman and the day turned out weatherwise to be sunny, though a little breezy. Sixty-plus people were in attendance.People flew in from Cocoa Beach , North Perry, and elsewhere as well as some drive-ins!!! Vans transported people to the FSS and Weeks Museum from/to the Reliance hangar. Once again the TAC membership came through to present a nice activity. Thanks to all the volunteers: Bob Albury, Doug Barnes, Sheila Bennett, Dave & Sue Bodley, Bob Collins & Elaine Pearson,Randy & Jean Davis, Al DeMaria, Jose & Mary Gilibert, Laurie Householder & Mike Hassall, Monte & Bobbi Lichtiger, John McBennett, Yale Mosk, Fran Sargent, Fred Schlafly, Wendy G. Smith. Les & Sondra Space. And Jon Weiner. Les Space thought it was such a great affair, he wants this to be an Annual Pancake Breakfast....

News to report from the TICO Airshow..President Fred Schlafly and his Yak did a number of bombing runs before being"shot down" by P-51 Mustang. It was all in good fun and everyone who attended had a great time. Maybe next year a few of the other TAC warbirds will attend.

Cruise Director Bobbi Lichtiger wants TAC members to know that the Grasshoppers and Ninety-Nines will be sponsoring a fly-out/drive-in at Miami's Metro Zoo on Saturday, March 24,2001. For further information telephone her at (305-444-3458) or e-mail at (tigertale99@aol.com).

Saturday, March 24th and Sunday, March 25th is the Marathon Seafood Festival. The TAC fly-out is planned for Sunday but there is no specified ETA. TAC members will try to get together for lunch under a big tree, tent, or somewhere. Telephone Sue Bodley (305-385-1958) or e-mail (sue@sfla.net) her to exchange cellular telephone numbers. Admission is reportedly free to the Festival if you fly in. FYI there is a new FBO on the West side of the field.

March 31st is the date of a Broward Aviation Department/FSDO flight safety seminar and course on the design and operation of the Broward/Fort Lauderdale system of airports. For more information contact Paul Stutsman at (305-386-7500) or e-mail him at (pstuts@mindspring.com).

April 8-14, 2001 is Sun 'n Fun at the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport. Sue Bodley will be taking names/information on those attending and preparing a list for distribution. E-mail (sue@sfla.net) or telephone her (305-385-1958) with your attendance days, hotel (if any), and cellular telephone number so TAC members can coordinate some get togethers.

Bob Beilman invites those TAC members who will be at Sun 'n Fun on Thursday, April 12th, to stop by the OX5 Clubhouse rest facility for some light refreshments. It will be next to QB's. He also wants TAC members to know that the OX5 Aviation Pioneers Florida Wing will be hosting, that same evening, a Pioneer Day Dinner at the Sheraton Four Points. For those who wish to see the Ringling Museum of Art , the Ringling Circus Museum, and/or a Museum of Antique Cars and Musical Instruments (across the street from the estate), they are all in close proximity. More details will be forthcoming. If you haven't visited these museums, they really are quite impressive.

And still more activities are planned: so don't put your calendar away...specific information will be made available as we get closer to these dates..

On Saturday and Sunday, May 12th and 13th, the Sunrise Communities' Balloon Race and TMB Aviation Days will be held. This will be a big event.

On Saturday, May 19th, 2001 TAC will have a fly-out to Venice for lunch..(Florida, not Italy!!!!!)

And June 1-3, 2001 a fly-out is planned to Rock Sound on Eleuthra, the Bahamas. The cost is $ 75.00 per person, per night, ALL INCLUSIVE!!!!!!!!!!! and that includes the bar tab too!!!!!!!!!!!!! So start to plan now and let either Cruise Director, Sue Bodley or Bobbi Lichtiger know of your intentions. If you want more information they will help you out.

On Saturday, June 23rd a fly-out to Ft. Pierce is scheduled. We will check into a tour of the Micco facility.

In July we may fly-out to LaBelle, in August we have our Summertime (and the living is easy!!!!) BBQ, and Key West is planned for September. The Cruise Director's would like to know how many members would be interested in taking a day trip to Fort Jefferson. This would probably be a Full-Day trip..and some might wish to stay overnight in Key West. If this does interest you, please let them know.

At the March 13, 2001 Board of Director's meeting, Ingrid Johnson informed the group that job commitments will require her to step down as the Secretary of this club. President Fred Schlafly is asking for someone to volunteer to fill this position, or he will make an appointment. Telephone him at (305-385-9707) or e-mail him (fschlafly@sprynet.com) if you would like to become Secretary. Ingrid, for your many years of volunteering and reporting to the membership we say Thank-you!

The Club is still seeking someone to be "Party Coordinator". We only have three parties per year: the Summertime BBQ in August, the Annual Dinner Meeting in January, and the December Holiday party. Contact Fred if you are interested.

*** TAC needs a new logo for badges and shirts. We want YOU to create it------so if you have any ideas and you are

CREATIVE- design it, submit it, and win a new shirt and badge. Please limit the design to two colors and 3 x 1½ inches. Submit your design to President Fred by April 30th. ***

NOTICE: A few members have not paid their dues. Accordingly, we will drop their names from the roster on March 31, 2001. Three months is a rather healthy grace period.

HEAR YE, HEAR YE: All written communication as well as this edition of the Newsletter, will be the last sent via U.S. Mail. Unless someone would like to volunteer to handle copying, addressing, stuffing envelopes, etc., all correspondence will be e-mailed. For the one or two members who do not have e-mail, you will continue to receive information via regular mail for a short while.

We invite all our members to our next Board of Directors meeting at Reliance Aviation (TMB) on Tuesday, April 17th at 1830. RSVP to Fred is required because pizza is brought in.

Until next time, fly safely.
