A beautiful day since we didn't know there was a tropical storm bearing down on us. Three planes made the trip to Marathon, departing KTMB at about 10:30 AM with Bobbi & Monti Lichtiger, Sonia & Edgar Bortolin, Don & Wendy Smith, Randy and Jean Davis, and David & Sue Bodley.

KMTH Jet Center supplied two Loaner cars for the trip of about 5 minutes to the CUAY Restaurant. The Quay has a great island setting, with air conditioned comfort behind picture windows on the Bay. The food was exceptional, service friendly, with remarkable music by Satellite. They opened at 11:30, our ETA, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

This was “Bike Week” in Key West, the reason our destination was changed on short notice from the original plan to EYS, so Fred & Sheila Schlafly stopped by to join us on the way home, as did Walt and Bobbi Orth on their way back from a mini vacation. The atmosphere at lunch was even more laid back than usually expected in the Keys, and everyone agreed it was an exceptionally pleasant gathering.

We didn't know (probably fortunately) that Tropical Storm Rita had formed, and a warning had been issued for the Keys. It was a bit breezy, but no weather was visible other than a few widely scattered showers, easily avoidable. .

Over-all pretty close to a “10” afternoon
